Oh my god...most amazing concert ever. If you ever have the chance to see Sigur Ros live, seize it!!!! I went into the concert thinking it would be awesome but wishing it were before the Coldplay concert because it could never live up to that level of awesomeness. I was totally wrong. Sigur Ros was awesome in a completely different way...there's no possible way to compare them. Coldplay was energizing fun jumping up and down shouting along to the music that is me. Sigur Ros was ecstasy...just sitting in my seat in awe of the beauty that I was witness to.
I remember Leana told me once that she read about a girl who listened to Sigur Ros, and it was so intense that it actually made her throw up. Sigur Ros is really emotionally intense, and I've always felt that it was emotional music, but never connected fully until I saw them live. I didn't throw up, but I understand how it could make you physically sick...that was the first concert I've ever been to that's actually made someone cry.
The lead singer plays his guitar with a cello bow, which is so cool, and there was this song towards the end where it just got so intense and he was bowing so hard on that guitar that he actually broke the bow and then he kneeled down to the floor as the lights faded and at some point during that process, my mind blew.
And Sigur Ros is totally not pretentious at all. At the end, they came out and clapped for us and bowed...twice! It was the sweetest thing ever and I respect them all the more for it. A band that truly appreciates their fans is a beautiful thing.
